Selecting a frame can be very intimidating. Your eyeglasses should not only fit your face shape and coloring; they should also fit your personality.
Mountain View Eye Center's opticians are trained, certified, and experienced to help you choose the right frame for you.
Our optical department offers Essilor's Crizal premium no-glare coatings. Crizal offers a variety of coatings and benefits, including scratch resistance from daily wear and tear, glare reduction, smudge and dust repellent and harmful UV protection. There is even a coating to help reduce the amount of blue light we take in from out phones, tablets, computer screens and overhead fluorescent lighting.
Make sure to ask one of our knowledgeable opticians about which coating would work best for you.
Photochromic lenses react to different lighting situations. Photochromic lenses are clear when you are indoors, or at night, but change into a dark sunglass lens when you are outdoors due to exposure to UV rays from sunlight. As the light conditions change, the level of tint adjusts, offering the right tint at the right time while keeping UV protection consistent.
Photochromic lenses are like sunblock for your eyes by blocking 100% of UVA and UVB rays.
The premium brand of photochromic lenses that our optical uses is Essilor's Transitions. Transitions are available in many colors but the most popular are grey and brown tints. Transitions are also available in Xtractive, offering the darkest tint while in the car and Xtractive Polarized providing additional glare reduction. Our opticians stay up to date with the latest technology improvements and can answer all your questions regarding Transitions and what would be best for your lifestyle.
Polarized sunglass lenses dramatically reduce glare due to a special filter built into the lens. Glare is caused by light reflecting off horizontal surfaces like water, roads, or snow. The special filter in polarized lenses blocks horizontal light coming through the lens, thus eliminating glare. Polarization enhances clarity and color contrast and reduces dangerous blind spots while driving.
Polarized lenses are also like sunblock for your eyes by filtering and blocking 100% UVA and UVB rays from the sun. Polarized lenses are available in gray or brown. Polarized lenses can be made to your prescription or we offer a wide variety of non-prescription sunglasses with polarized lenses; perfect for wearing over contacts or after refractive surgery.
