Pediatric Eye Care

September 10, 2019

At the office of Mountain View Eye Center we provide comprehensive vision care for children of all ages.

Eye care is an essential part of every child’s overall health and development. The American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends regular eye screenings beginning at the newborn stage, followed by infant, toddler, preschooler, and school age screenings.

In addition to these vision checks, it’s important to schedule a more comprehensive eye exam if you suspect your child is having vision difficulties. Sometimes it can be hard to identify a vision problem in young children. Often a behavioral issue may actually be linked to difficulty seeing, or trouble balancing could be due to a vision issue, for example.

How to Know if Your Child Needs a Comprehensive Eye Exam

The American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends that your child have a vision exam for any of the following reasons:

  • Failed or inconclusive vision screening
  • Referred by school nurse or educator
  • Family history of eye disease or vision loss
  • Child complains about eye pain or trouble seeing
  • Child has a learning disability or behavioral problem

If you think your child may benefit from having his or her eyes checked, don’t hesitate to schedule an appointment. If there is any kind of vision trouble, early detection is the best way to achieve optimal results. One of our pediatric ophthalmologists will conduct a thorough eye exam to assess visual acuity, eye tracking, focusing skills, near and distance vision, and to detect vision issues such as amblyopia, strabismus, color blindness, and more.

Our goal is to help your child see better and achieve. Poor vision or vision problems can affect your child’s schoolwork and social interactions. That’s why our team of experts is trained to identify the problem quickly and provide your child with the best care to help her succeed.

At the office of Mountain View Eye Center, we’re dedicated to providing the highest quality of skilled and compassionate care. For more information on our office and the many services that we provide, give us a call today.
